Description

Apollo 11 Crew-Signed "Type One" Insurance Cover Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, Certified and Encapsulated by Collectibles Authentication Guaranty. A philatelic cover with the "Apollo 8" 6¢ stamp (Scott #1371) affixed, machine canceled at Houston, Texas, on July 20, 1969, the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon. The color cachet features the text: "NASA Manned Spacecraft Center Stamp Club/ Official Commemorative Cover/ First Manned Lunar Exploration" above a colorful moon scene. It is beautifully signed to the right in blue felt tip: "Neil Armstrong", "Michael Collins", and "Buzz Aldrin". A perfect display piece with the crew's signatures and the familiar mission insignia. Apollo 11 was the first flight in which insurance covers were utilized. Excellent, sealed in a numbered archival sleeve. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
