    Description

Apollo 11 Flight Plan Page with Notations by all Three Crewmembers.

Apollo 11 Command Module Flown Flight Plan Page Signed by and Originally from the Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin with handwritten mission notations by all three. This three-hole punched 10.5" x 8" printed sheet consists of pages 3-124 and 3-125 of the Apollo 11 Flight Plan (Part No. SKB32100080-350 S/N 1001). There is also accompanying a detailed, signed Letter of Authenticity from Buzz Aldrin on his personal letterhead, who writes in part: "...This sheet is from the detailed timeline section and covers from hour 178 to the beginning of hour 182 in the mission... Page 3-124 shows that we were in PTC or Passive Thermal Control... This was our last full day in space and we would soon be making a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean the next day of July 24, 1969... Page 3-125 has three tasks we performed prior to our last 'evening' meal of the flight. Mike Collins checked for moisture in the tunnel hatch area and wrote the comment 'dry as a bone' and added 'Collins: 179:03:01'. I recorded the values of '37.0...'. Neil Armstrong made the check marks next to these steps... Neil lined-out the step to purge the O2 fuel cell and logged the time of the filter change... This page has been in my private collection since 1969. I have written on page 3-125: 'Carried to the Moon on Apollo XI and signed it on that side..." A copy of the front cover of the plan is included with this lot. Extremely fine condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
