Description

Trio of Excellent Skinner's Tools, 1870s beginning with 1) this knife kit, leather tacked to a wooden cylinder with dividers for seven knifes. The box is 8" high and 4 ¼" in diameter at the top with a 4" belt loop. Two of the butcher knives are unmarked Green River style; the other five are all highlights: 10" skinning knife marked "J Russell & Co/Green River Works;" 10 ½" hunting knife with one-piece hollow handle, full-tanged blade marked "M Bissey;" early Bowie, hand-forged 11" knife with 6 ¼" blade marked "JNM/MOL" in a bone handle; flat blade full tang lightly-use butcher in a cocobolo handle, 9 ¼" with 5 ¾" blade marked "+ [over] L;" and finally an 8-7/8" butcher marked "J. Langer/Cast Steel." 2) The second part of this set is a buffalo horn whetstone holder with an iron ribbon belt loop, 11" overall; 3) The set is completed with a blacksmith-made ladle with beaten copper bowl and wrought-iron handle. The bowl is 5" in diameter. Overall length is 19".
