Description
Rare Imperial German Postal Official's Degen. A seldom encountered and extremely attractive sword with a 31¾" single-edge, narrow, etched blade. No maker's mark is present on the blade. This sword was obviously an upgrade over the standard model which had smooth brass mounts as this example has finely chiseled floral decoration on the pommel, guard and clamshell. The grip is made of twisted silver wire wrap with the silver Hohenzollern eagle is mounted to the clamshell. The sword is complete in the proper leather scabbard with brass throat and tip. This example retains the gold portepee. An impressive sword in excellent condition.Auction Info
