Description
European Cup Hilt Rapier.Approximately 45-inches overall with a 37-inch double edge blade with a three narrow fullers 10-inches from the hilt on each side. Within the fullers, one side reads NO ME SAQUES SIN RAZON and NO ME ENBAINES SIN HONOR obverse [Draw me not without reason and sheath me not without honour]. Intricate primitive design with borders adorns the inscription on blade. Wrought iron cup with simple raised border design to edge. Wire wrapped wooden grip with simple pommel cap [wire missing], flat button. Straight quillons. Condition: Very good. Showing age wear and a smooth bright patina overall. Cleaned at some point. Surface spots, pitting present overall. Period repair to cup hilt. Wire missing. Lose cup. From the Sylver Schaller Collection.
