Basket Hilted English Backsword by Drury, Cira 1750-1780.

The sword has 32-inch blade and measures 38 1/2-inches overall. 1 1/4-inches wide at the hilt. Each side of the blade has a deep single fuller running to within 9 1/4-inches of the tip. Each side is deeply struck with "[Crown] / GR / DRURY" of the manufacturer (Drury of London). The pieced metal basket hilt has a distinctive cone-shaped pommel. Brass-wire wrapped leather grip (may be a replacement).

Condition: Blade and hilt display a uniform gray patina with some scattered areas of dark pinprick pitting. Tip point broken off.
