Description

Ames U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber Dated 1863.

34 1/2-inch slightly curved, bright blade marked "US / DR / 1863" on the obverse ricasso and "AMES Mfg. Co. / CHICOPEE / MASS" on the reverse. Brass hilt, leather covered grips with twisted-wire wrap. Iron scabbard with two mounting rings.

Condition: Very good. Blade with a few small areas of dark spots but generally it remains bright; scabbard with light surface rust. From the Collection of Dr. Phillip R. Rutherford
