Description

Ames U.S. Model 1860 Cavalry Saber Dated 1860 With Hangers.
34 ¾-inch slightly curved blade. Obverse side stamped with the Ames logo; the reverse side dated 1860. Brass hilt with wire-wrapped leather grip. Metal scabbard with two carrying rings. Hangers with U.S. inspector stamp on leather and brass hook marked "Gaylord".

Condition: About very good. Blade with a dull, smooth patina due mainly to scabbard wear; hilt with considerable tarnishing; scabbard with pitting and moderate to heavy rust; leather of hangers a bit try and could stand some conservation.
