Description
American Officers' Eagle Head Cavalry Sword, Circa 1813. 32 ½" curved blade with faintly etched floral decoration, a panoply of arms, and federal eagle with "E Pluribeus [sic]Unum" in blued panels, and accented in gilt. Gilded eagle head pommel and knuckle bow. Fluted ivory grip. No maker's marks visible. Metal scabbard with two suspension rings. Scabbard appears to have originally been gilded but only traces remain. Blade with moderate scabbard wear and loss to the bluing in the panels and gilded areas. Knuckle bow detached at the pommel and the grip is loose. An impressive sword in all things considered, very good condition.Auction Info
