17th Century German Swept Hilt Rapier.

Approximately 47 3/4-inches overall with a 41-inch straight blade with two fullers marked ANDREA FERARA. Wire-bound grip. Sword blade 1-inches at its widest. Grip is 10-inches long, square section with knuckle bow, color wire. Iron hilt with straight quillons with branch. Ovoid pommel with button, 1/2-inches high, 1/2-inch diameter. Quite impressive sword from a known swordsmith. Sold together with photocopy of invoice from Arbour Antiques Ltd. (Proprietor-R.J. Wigington) of Stratford Warwickshire to current consignor describing the sword and basic history. Dated November 2nd, 1984. In the invoice he states, German swept-hilt rapier preserved in fine condition.......divided by two fullers and is signed on each side 'Andrea Ferara'.

Condition: Good to very good with age wear. Showing an overall mottled gray patina on blade and hilt. Fine scratches present to metal. Crude metal and some pitting inside hilt.
