Description

Interesting Plymouth England Inscribed Flick Stick Cane.

Overall length is 35-inches. Shaft appears to be Cocobolo with a 3 1/2-inch solid steel tip of cruciform form that emerges when flicked, to conceal the weapon again, press the safety on the blade to retract. This is definitely a fighting cane. Silver collar reads J H PAGE PLYMOUTH / U D P. On the reverse is a cypher, [P P] appears military. The handle is British walnut of select quality. It is rumored that Mr. Page was the inventor of the page. Old inventory sticker reading [56] is present near collar. Note: Similar examples can be seen on pages 297-298 of Cane Curiosa by Catherine Dike. [29/84] and on advertising copy on top of page 297 titled CANNES A DARD.

Condition: Very good for its age. There is one age crack but the mechanism is very sound and this piece has excellent weight and balance.
