Description

Eastern Plains Pipe Tomahawk, c. 1850. The steel head measures 7-1/2" with a 1-1/2" pipe bowl and a 2-3/8" cutting edge. Attributed to the St. Louis gunsmith Horace Dimick (1809-1874), the blade is notched along its edges with crisscross details added across the top. The 24" haft is beveled and also notched at its end to mimic the head's design. In excellent condition with only typical handling wear. The Michael Ward Collection of Western Americana
