Description

Antique Gentleman's Sword Cane with Carved Handle.

Measuring 33-inches overall, this elegant gentleman's sword cane conceals a 15 1/2-inch double-edged steel blade, finely decorated with fire-blue and gilt scrollwork. The natural handle is intricately carved and engraved, centered with a vacant oval shield surrounded by floral motifs, an impressive detail that reflects both artistry and refinement. Designed in the classic tradition of the 18th–19th century gentleman's accessory, the piece served the dual purpose of a walking aid and a discreet weapon for personal protection. The wooden shaft, light yet sturdy, displays a warm tan coloration.

Condition: Very good, with modest evidence of age and use. The handle shows age-related cracks but remains stable, with light wear from handling. The blade retains much of its decoration, with only slight wear, loss and slight bending to tip. The shaft with minor splits appears to be lacking its terminal tip or ferrule.
