Single Blade Folding Dirk Knife by Edward Barnes.

Approximately 10 1/4-inches overall, with a 4 1/2-inch clip point blade with faint but somewhat readable etching FOR THE / GOLD SEARCHER'S / PROTECTION. Ricasso marked EDWARD / BARNES / & SONS. Select horn scales [four pins each side], nickel silver shield and fancy stamped LIBERTY AND UNION on both crossguards and visualized pommel. Silver escutcheon on left side. Note: Sheffield, England. C. 1850's.

Condition: Very good to fine for its age. Moderate pitting to blade, silver parts good, lightly cleaned. Scales worn with, stress marks, repairs [near bottom pin] and warping. Some pitting inside liners and to backspace. Blade opens soft, soft snap close.
