Multi-Blade Folding Knife by Joseph Bower, C. 1765.
5 3/8-inch lockback spearpoint blade with false edge. Staghorn grip scales. Ricasso marked IB [Old English] for maker Joseph Bower. Release with large conical finial. Multi-blade features include a 2-inch sheepfoot, pruning blades, 4-inch sail needle and corkscrew. Fluted file work present on back of blades. Brass liners, brass bolsters and the end bolsters with shell style terminals. Back of knife features a scarce and unusual flint striker including a faint IB marking. This exact knife was offered in 2002 in a Butterfield and Butterfield Arms & Armor sale. Note: This knife is displayed and pictured on page 208 of the book titled Sheffield Exhibitions Knife book by Adams. Bower is listed as a Master [in the Sheffield Cutler's Guild 1765].

Condition: Very good for its age. All features function. Spearpoint blade with two minor chips to backside of blade. Blades show some minor pitting and staining overall. Scales appear excellent. A great and desirable knife well documented.
