Massive Gentleman's Folding Bowie Knife.

Approximately 17 7/8-inches long open, 13-inches closed. 12-inch spearpoint blade marked WILSON / HAWKSWORTH / AND MOSS on the ricasso. Two-piece German silver combination crossguard and bolsters. Massive Mother of Pearls scales with push button release; the raised push-button blade release when closed and lockback push blade release when open. No Scabbard present. Circa 1840-50's. Knife weighs approximately 1.5lbs.
Please note: Wilson, Hawksworth & Moss was founded around 1825 by John Wilson [father of Lady Mappin] and John Wilson Hawksworth and rapidly established a reputation in the US.

Condition: Very good. Blade cleaned with minor pitting present. Scales with some cracks and repairs present. Functions correctly, slight wiggle when opened. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
