Lot of Two Assorted Antique Bowie Knives with Scabbards. Comprising: 1) Antique English Bowie Knife by G. Wostenholm & Son with Associated Scabbard. Having a tapered straight blade, the left side marked: G. Wostenholm & Son/Washington Works. /The Real I*XL Knife [in riband]/The Hunter's Companion. Ricasso marked: I*XL. German silver crossguard of ovoid form and integral bolsters. Steel tang. Mother-of-pearl gripscales, held by four German silver rivets. Vacant rectangular escutcheon with pointed ends. Contained in associated brown leather scabbard with belt loop and inscribed on front: "W". 2) Antique English Clip-Point Bowie Knife by the Slater Brothers. Having a 7-inch clip-point blade, the left side marked: [bee hive]/Venture/Slater Brothers/Sheffield. Ricasso marked: No. 94/Scotland/Street/Sheffield. Flat German silver crossguard of ovoid form. Grip with horn gripscales inlaid on left side with ornate abalone and German silver dingbat. Contained in associated navy blue period leather scabbard with gilt borders and central decoration and having German silver mounts. Belt stud missing. Condition: Both are very good to fine. No. 1 with hole in belt loop on scabbard and wear to tip of scabbard. Both showing light wear and handling commensurate with age of item. No. 2 with minor dents to mounts.
