Large Antique English "Hunter's Companion" Clip-Point Bowie Knife by George Wostenholm & Son, Sheffield. Having a 9 ¾-inch clip-point blade with 4 ½-inch back edge. Left side of blade marked: G. Wostenholm & Son,/Washington Works./ [eagle in flight]/The Real I*XL Knife [on riband]/The Hunter's Companion. Flat German silver crossguard with back-view recurved quillons. Ribbed German silver ferrule. Ribbed antique one-piece ivory cutlery style grip with layered and fluted oval pommel cap which is peened on the end. Contained in a red, period leather scabbard stamped: IXL with scalloped German silver mounts. Condition: Good. Blade showing heavy wear and scattered pitting present. Grip a possible period replacement. Hilt very good, showing wear and age patina. Scabbard with wear and marks.
