Folding Dirk Knife by Bunting of Sheffield
Circa 1830s-1840s. Lockback folding dirk knife with dagger ground blade marked BUNTINGS?CAST?STEEL?WARRANTED?BEST?QUALITY. Stag handle scales, with nickel silver trim including eagle bolsters and floral pattern pommels. Blade worn, cleaned and loose fully open; blade pin a replacement. Very good.
Made by Robert Bunting & Sons of Sheffield, one of the more prominent makers of fixed blade and folding dirks and bowie knives for the American market.
