Description

Fine Large "Mountain Man's" Knife with Bear Jaw Handle. The large tooth in the front of the bear's jaw helps the user to maintain a firm grip on the handle. Surprisingly, the teeth on the underside of the handle are not sharp; the entire handle exhibits worn, polished patina, a result of many years of use. The blade was formed by cutting down a large metal file (not an uncommon practice under primitive conditions where a fine forged blade was not always easy to come by), and retains a sharp edge. A fine early Western relic. Length 13.75".
