Exceptionally Fine Condition, Large Sheffield Bowie Knife Circa 1892. 13 3/4" Overall with 8" Clipped Point Blade.
Blade nicely marked in 1/4" letters "NON-XLL" and on the penknife type ricasso "Joseph/ Allen & Sons/ Sheffield/ England". Blade bright and clean with no nicks. Heavy, natural stag 5 1/2" one piece grip perfect with nice rich patina. S-curved, thick, German silver cross guard and decoratively embossed silver (not German silver) 3/4" ferrule at the base of the grip below cross guard, Also decoratively embossed 1/2" flat silver pommel cap. Accompanied by a 19th century thick leather sheath, stitched at one side along with small brass rivets. Clearly made for and used with this knife during the period. Impressive knife in wonderful condition.
