"Louisiana" Folding Bowie Knife by Wragg &?Sons, Sheffield.
Circa 1845-1851. 7"?closed lockback folding bowie knife with clip point blade marked WRA[gg &?Sons] XL[NT] FURNACE?HILL?SHEFFIELD. Horn scales with nickel silver trim including inlaid discs, spread winged eagle guards, and pommel featuring pelican feeding its young in the nest (said to resemble the state seal of Louisiana.) Tip of one quillon "wing" missing, backing piece of one quillon missing, horn handles with several patched areas and one crack; blade repinned, lightly cleaned with scattered light pits. Very good.
The patriotic motifs found on this knife have long been popular with collectors.
