Description

Edged Weapons: Three Main Gauche or Parrying Daggers. These three fine weapons are 19th Century armorer's copies of 16th century Parrying Daggers, or Main Gauche. They were designed for use in conjunction with rapiers in duels. Held in the left hand, they were intended to deflect thrusts from an opponent's rapier. One Main Gauche comes in a cordovan leather sheath with steel mounts. The grip is bound in wire. The blade measures 10.5" and, with the sheath, measures 17" overall. The second Main Gauche has a pierced shell guard and a blade that measures 12.25" (17.25" overall). The third weapon has a 12" channeled blade (18" overall). A very impressive collection.
