Description

Excavated Luristan Bronze Short Sword/Dagger.

Bronze, 18-inch blade, 22 1/2-inches overall. The blade and handle are integrally forged. The two-edged blade has a raised mid-rib and has a decorative pattern along with a pleasing overall green patina on the surface. The original handle insets are long gone and the weapon is in complete, un-restored condition. The form is consistent with knives found in the Luristan Province of Iran.

Condition: Good, as excavated. Blade edge has some losses. Nice green patina with encrustation on the surface. Pommel broken in a few stages. From the Collection of Jonathan Kern Sold to Benefit Charity
