Description

Excavated Luristan Bronze Dagger, Circa 1200 to 800 BCE.

Bronze, 12-inch blade, 18-inches overall. Flanged hilt, cast in two pieces using the lost wax casting process. The handle would at one time have had a grip made of wood, stone, or bone attached by three pins. Sold with a COA from Artemis Gallery. Attractively mounted on a modern stand.

Condition: Good, as excavated. One side of the flanged hilt has losses to both edges of the flange; the other has loss to one edge. Blade edge has some losses. Nice green patina with encrustation on the surface.
