Description

Excavated Bronze Short Sword/Dagger.

Bronze, 20-inch blade, 25 1/2-inches overall. The blade and handle are integrally forged. This example displays a more ornate handle with an Oceanic influenced motif. The two-edged blade has a raised mid-rib and is decorative with linguistic characters. A pleasing overall green and dark age patina on the surface. The form is consistent with knives found in the Bronze age period.

Condition: Good, as excavated. Blade edge has some losses. Blade slightly bent. Nice green patina with encrustation on the surface. Light surface rust is present. From the Collection of Jonathan Kern Sold to Benefit Charity
