Description

American Eaglehead Officer's Saber C. 1830 28" curved blade generally smooth and gray with some scattered salt and peppering and a few small spots of old surface rust. Single deep narrow fuller along the back of the blade. Retains traces of the engraved military and floral motif etching. Plain stirrup type faceted guard with disc quillon. Nice crested eaglehead. Very finely carved ivory grip with some age hairlines but very sound with very nice patina. 3/8" round faced brass ferrule at the base. Scabbard very sound with finish crackling but minimal flaking. The mounts engraved with line decoration, with the top mount retaining some silver wash. Middle mount with a few minor bends. Lower mount with a couple of dents. Nice representative eaglehead saber.
