Description

American Eaglehead Officer's Saber C. 1825. 30" curved blade decorated with gilt highlighted engraved military and floral motifs including American shield on reverse. Blade retains much of the original gilt highlighting and traces of the fire blue background, the balance smooth and gray with just one small area of old surface rust and one shallow nick near the tip. Retains the original leather washer. Hilt with plain heavy reverse P guard slotted for sword knot at the top with disc quillon and plain langets. Large crested eaglehead. One piece swirl carved bone grip with nice mellow patina and one age hairline, not affecting soundness. 3/8" round brass ferrule at the base. Hilt overall about perfect with nice patina. Nice untouched saber.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
