Absolutely The Finest Ames M1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber We've Ever Offered. Blade absolutely as new with 100% brilliant luster. Deep crisp marks including Cabotville and date of 1846. Hilt and grip also mint, the brass showing wonderful mellow patina. Scabbard near perfect with smooth pleasing gray patina and just a few tiny patches of salt and peppering, negligible. Absolutely no dents or nicks. Without question one of the finest examples extant, and especially desirable with this Mexican War date.Auction Info
