6 volumes, large 8vo. Publisher's red cloth, spines and front boards stamped in black and gilt. Original dust jackets.

FIRST EDITIONS. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the front free endpaper of volume I: "To / Samuel Kaplan / from / Winston S. Churchill / 1949." The true first edition of each volume, each preceding the English edition by a few months.

Samuel Kaplan was a New York businessman, noted for supplying Churchill with fine Cuban cigars during World War II.

Condition: Volume I spine sunned; light edgewear to all volumes. Dust jackets unclipped (each priced "$6.00"); spines sunned; mild edgewear, with a few scuffs and scratches, a few chips and short tears; other minor wear; Vol. IV dust jacket soiled and with a tear to rear spine fold; Vol. VI front panel with a small dark stain.
