Octavo. 238, [4] pages. Publisher's dark blue cloth, decoratively blind-stamped, spine lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed. Spine ends slightly pushed and just a bit worn; boards soiled, with a couple of faint scratches; boards peeking at corners; trace of wear along bottom edges. Text block mildly dulled around edges, with a handful of specks of soiling; endpapers slightly discolored; minor foxing to first and last several leaves of text block. Very good binding housing a near fine text block. The true first edition, "[it] was probably pirated," and appeared four years before the first English edition, which was published under the title Recollections of a Detective Police-Officer. Queen's Quorum 2; a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.
