Noam Chomsky. Syntactic Structures. 'S-Gravenhage: Mouton & Co., 1957. First edition. Signed by the author to the title page. Octavo. 116 pages. Publisher's textured gray-blue paper wrappers, printed in dark blue. Minor edgewear, spine and edges lightly sunned, spine somewhat rubbed and worn. No endpapers. Internally clean and tight; text block edges toned with minor wear. Housed in custom black cloth clamshell case backed in black morocco, spine decorated and lettered in gilt. Near fine.An enviable signed first edition, described by linguistic historian R. H. Robins as "...probably the most radical and important change in direction in descriptive linguistics and in linguistic theory that has taken place in recent years..."
