Illustrations in text. Publisher's gilt lettered and gilt pictorial brown cloth, gilt stamped spine. Cream colored endpapers, all edges trimmed; bookseller's pencil annotations to front pastedown. Internally clean and bright. Original pictorial dust jacket. Near fine. With a delightfully humorous inscription to front free endpaper recto telling the reader, "this is our copy... [it must not] be sat on by too many wet cats...."[Together with:] The Path Through the Trees. [London]: Eyre Methuen, [1979]. First edition. Octavo. 287 pages. With line drawings by Tim Wood. Publisher's green cloth, gilt stamped spine; slightly cocked. Minor discoloration to cream colored endpapers, all edges trimmed; bookseller's pencil annotations to front pastedown. Internally clean and bright. Original pictorial dust jacket; spine sunned and slightly discolored, repairs to bottom of spine panel verso, some thumb soiling to front and rear dust jacket flaps. Near fine. The likely dedication copy, inscribed on the front free endpaper recto, "For his Two Heroines / From their Author / with love / 6. August. 1979," presumably Lesley and Clare, the author's wife and daughter.

Publisher's olive-green cloth, gilt stamped spine; minor scuffing to front and back boards. Cream colored endpapers, all edges trimmed; offsetting from inscription to title page, bookseller's pencil annotations to front free endpaper. Original color pictorial dust jacket; minor stains. Internally clean and bright. Inscribed in blue ink to half-title, "It is traditional for the author / to dedicate his book to: / "My Wife, but for whom..." / So this is to you, but for whom / this book might have been / what it set out to be, / what, even at the end of Chapter 2, / it still thought it was: / "The Natural History of Embridge" / Luckily you said: "No, it isn't. / It is a fable, and having started it / you'd better finish it." / So I did. / And thanks to you here it is. / From me to you with love / August 26th 1985."
[And with:] The Open Garden, A Story with Four Essays. [London:] Methuen, [1988]. First paperback edition. Pictorial printed wrappers; minor staining, bookseller's pencil annotations to verso of front wrapper. Internally clean; text block slightly toned, with a few blue ink corrections in the author's hand. Half-title inscribed, "Here, at long last and / before I give it away / to someone else, is our / own copy. It is presented by the author / to his wife and cats / Christopher / 23rd February 1989."
These four books, each inscribed by the author Christopher Milne, gives a glimpse into the multifaceted life of a grown-up Christopher Robin and reveal his wit and dry humor, love of writing, and clear devotion to his wife, daughter, and cats.
