One of 60 copies printed for President Truman, of which this is number 52. Presentation copy, inscribed by the President: "To Hon. Claude R. Wickard, / with best wishes for a / Merry Christmas. / Harry S. Truman / Dec. 25, 1951." Tall, slim octavo. 12 pages. Quarter orange morocco over tan paper boards, with gilt lettering to spine and gilt-stamped presidential seal on front board. Laid in is original White House mailing label with poinsettia Christmas sticker. Fine.

More Information:

From the collection of Claude R. Wickard (1893-1967) who served as Secretary of Agriculture in Roosevelt's cabinet from 1940 to 1945. He resigned the cabinet post in 1945 to head the Rural Electrification Administration, a New Deal agency created by FDR to promote and encourage rural electrification.
