Minor edgewear, head and foot of spine just pushed, slightly cocked, minor soiling to lower board. Cream endpapers; minor offsetting and foxing, small penciled bookseller's notation to front free endpaper recto. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed; minor intermittent foxing chiefly to edges. First state dust jacket clipped, but with 26 titles listed on the rear panel; minor edgewear, minor chipping to head and foot of spine panel and corners, back panel somewhat rubbed with minor soiling, minor foxing to verso. Cream endpapers; light offsetting, small penciled bookseller's notation to front free endpaper recto. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed; very minor intermittent foxing to edges. Dust jacket unclipped ($2.75); minor edgewear, very minor chipping to head and foot of spine pane, rear panel lightly toned, 55 mm closed tear to fold of rear flap. Near fine book with very good or better dust jacket.

From the start, Asimov's compelling tale of new frontiers, futuristic technology, mathematical sociology, and the speculative future of mankind cemented its place in not only the science fiction genre, but history as a whole. In 1966, the series was selected for a Hugo award for "Best All-Time Series," alongside names such as The Lord of the Rings and Heinlein's Future History.
