8vo. Illustrated title page by Fred J. Arting. Publisher's dark red cloth, front board stamped in blind and gilt, spine stamped in gilt. Original illustrated dust jacket, also by Fred J. Arting.

FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE, IN THE RARE DUST JACKET. First state binding of dark red cloth without the acorn device on the spine.

Condition: Spine lightly sunned; touch of rubbing to spine gilt; pale sunning to upper portion of both boards; a few bumps and light edgewear; textblock over-opened at pp. 214-215. Dust jacket decoratively clipped as issued, priced "$1.30 net" on spine; some small color corrections to spine panel; spine panel lightly rubbed; light offsetting from old tape to rear spine fold; expert repair to horizontal tear on spine verso; a few small tape repairs, primarily to spine panel folds; front flap separating; a few chips and other mild edgewear; light foxing. Despite minor flaws, a very nice example of a rare jacket.
