Description
Alfred Bester. Tiger! Tiger! London: Sidgwick and Jackson, [1956].8vo. Publisher's dark blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt; original pictorial dust jacket.
FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO DAVID ARONOVITZ on title page: "David, I wrote this one in England, France, and Italy. The names and locales reveal it. Alfie Bester."
Titled as The Stars My Destination both when serialized in Galaxy and for the American edition, Tiger! Tiger! is an escape-from-prison story modeled on the works of Alexandre Dumas. The present edition contains censored text, which differs from that of the American publication.
Condition: Gilt slightly discolored on spine. Text edges browned. Dust jacket unclipped (priced "12s. 6d. net"); edgewear with some chips and tears; rear panel worn; red stain to rear panel fold.
