First edition, inscribed by the author to Henry James with an original drawing of Ugh-lomi, the axe-wielding caveman protagonist of "A Story of the Stone Age," one of this volume's five collected short stories. Octavo. [viii], 358, 2 [advertisements]. Publisher's tan cloth, spine lettered in brown, front board lettered in gilt and stamped in brown. Boards lightly rubbed with some very minor soiling, occasional scuff to spine with light wear at joints, bottom corners gently bumped. Faint offsetting to endpapers. Very good.
