Robert Bloch. Psycho. New York: 1959. First edition, association copy, inscribed for Earl Kemp.

More Information: Robert Bloch. Psycho. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1959. First edition. Association copy, inscribed by author, "For Earl Kemp -- my publisher, but above all, my friend. Bob Bloch '59." Octavo. [6], 185, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's white cloth with black paper-covered boards; spine stamped in red. Front panel and backstrip of dust jacket white printed on black field, rest black and red on white. Edges rough-trimmed. Toning to head and foot of white cloth; edges of black cloth very slightly faded, rubbed. Edge wear to dust jacket; rumpling and tearing to front panel smoothed out; toning and light soiling to rear panel, creases and edges of flaps. Reverse of dust jacket softly toned; some spotting at backstrip; small rectangle of discoloration from label, now removed, at bottom of rear flap. Edges and margins of text block browned due to poor paper stock. Small, faint damp stains at outer margin of first chapter. Stain and thumbprint to page 21, fainter marginal thumbsoiling scattered throughout. Very good. The basis for Hitchcock's 1960 film of the same name.
