[San Felipe de Jesus]. José María Montes de Oca (engraver). Vida de San Felipe de Jesus, Protomatir de Japon, y Patron de su Patria Mexico. Mexico, 1801. Octavo. With twenty-nine copper engraved plates, including the engraved title, by José María Montes de Oca. Sabin calling for thirty plates; this copy with one unsigned plate (not included in the above count), perhaps supplied in facsimile and printed in a lighter, reddish-colored ink. Bound in plain wrappers, edges untrimmed. Sheets watermarked with a crown or "Casa / Dvall" and chain lines measuring 25 mm. apart. Images clean and clear with strong plate marks visible, only a spot or two of foxing, paper is quite supple. Overall a near-fine example of this early suite of Mexican copperplate engravings. Sabin 76028. All proceeds to benefit educational programs at The Bryan Museum.
