Description

Original Sepia Toned Photographic Print of "Kaloma". [N.p., n.d., ca. 1914]. Photographic print of nude model labeled "Kaloma" at lower margin. In 1976 this hauntingly beautiful woman appeared on the cover of Glenn Boyer's book I Married Wyatt Earp (University of Arizona Press). Ever since she has often been identified as Earp's wife, Josie, in numerous exhibitions and auction catalogs. On the other hand, many scholars and collectors dispute this identification and believe her to be an early 20th century model since the image isn't known from any pre-1914 context. Image measures approximately 10.5 x 4.25 inches, matted to an overall size of 13.5 x 8.5 inches. Print has unevenly trimmed edges and some minor foxing and warping, else very good. From the collection of Zita Books.
