Garth Williams. Illustration #5, Charlotte's Web.Garth Williams. Original preliminary drawing for illustration #5 (appearing on page 11) of Charlotte's Web, 1952: Fern with baby Wilbur in baby carriage. Ink on paper. 13.75 x 11.125 inches. Signed in full by Williams and dated 1952 at lower right. Also with Williams' notation in pencil: "First rough sketch of this drawing. Garth." Matted at some point, there is minor toning to image area (Williams' penciled caption was underneath mat and is not toned); masking tape to top edge of reverse. A few bends to top left corner, affecting image area. A few instances of faint foxing, outside image area. Very good. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
