Garth Williams. Original preliminary drawings for illustrations #29 and #30 (appearing on pages 108 and 109) of Charlotte's Web, 1952: Mrs. Arable and Dr. Dorian discuss Fern. Pencil on paper. Two sheets measuring 10.875 x 8.5 inches. Each initialed by Williams at lower right. Fine.
Eventually broken into two separate one-character illustrations on facing pages, these two preliminaries show Fern's mother and Dr. Dorian together in a more intimate two-shot. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
