Rosemary Wells' Original Hand-Colored Versions of Garth Williams' Illustrations for the Full Color Edition of Charlotte's Web
[Garth Williams]. Rosemary Wells. Group of Forty-Eight Illustrations for Charlotte's Web, With Original Application of Watercolor by Rosemary Wells. All forty-six of Garth Williams' illustrations that originally appeared in the original Charlotte's Web, hand-watercolored by children's author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, for the 1999 full-color edition of the book, the first appearance of these illustrations in color.Forty-eight sheets of stiff watercolor paper in various dimensions, many protected in glassine envelopes. There are two slightly different versions of illustrations #25 and #38. Colors bright and vibrant. All in fine condition.
The publisher's blurb from the full-color edition of Charlotte's Web: "Rosemary Wells, author and illustrator of almost eighty books, considers Garth Williams one of the true geniuses of twentieth-century book illustration and feels that had he had today's technology available, he would have chosen to do the illustration for Charlotte's Web in full color.
