[circa 1980s].Garth Williams' copy, with his handwritten notes throughout. 55 pages of letter-sized paper, in an unmarked brown three-ring report binder. Contains book of the musical, without lyrics or music. Contents near fine, in a lightly worn binder.
Musician John Sebastian, best known as the singer for the Lovin' Spoonful, wrote the book, the music, and the lyrics for a proposed Broadway musical based on Charlotte's Web. Sebastian apparently consulted with Garth Williams -- not only the original illustrator of E. B. White's book and about as close to the source material as one could get, but also a close family friend and John Sebastian's godfather -- and this script is filled with Williams' notes and suggestions. The musical was never produced, but an official collaboration between Sebastian and Williams happened several years later -- in 1993 -- with the publication of Sebastian's children's book, J. B.'s Harmonica, illustrated by Williams. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
