[First Day Covers]. Group of Five Assorted. 1973. Fine. A first day cover is a stamped envelope or card which was cancelled by the post office on the first day where the postage stamp was issued and has a cancellation mark indicating same. The cancellation is often specific to the occasion and frequently states "First Day of Issue" or similar.
