Publisher's light brown cloth with dark purplish titles. Minimal rubbing to cloth with some modest soiling along edges. Faint spotting to top page edge. Toning and offsetting to endpapers. Pages mildly toned. A near fine copy. Bright dust jacket has toning to edges and spine. Lightly worn edges and extremities with minor paper lose to spine ends and corners. Tiny chip along rear fold. Toning to verso. Overall, very good.

Chandler's third novel to feature private detective Philip Marlowe.
