Octavo. 190 x 135 mm. [8], 248 pages. Publisher's black cloth stamped in light blue. Light edgewear, corners a touch bumped, head and tail pushed with a few small tears, some scuffing to lower board. Text block edges toned, some thumbing to endpapers. Remnants to Harper's Sealed Mystery to rear endleaves and p. 217. Dust jacket decoratively clipped and priced "$2.00"; slightly soiled, loss to head and tail not affecting text, wear to inner folds with split along rear, some crinkling to edges, rubbing to spine. Very good book in very good dust jacket.[Together With:] John Dickson Carr. The Blind Barber. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1934. First edition. Octavo. 190 x 135 mm. [8], 279, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth stamped in red, in married dust jacket. Some wear to extremities, corners bumped and rubbed, light scuffing to boards, head and tail pushed. Text block edges toned, top edge dusted, fore-edge with two small cuts across the pages, front hinge starting, pencil notation to front free endleaf recto, remnant of Harper's Sealed Mystery to rear endleaves. Pages generally toned, otherwise clean. Dust jacket decoratively clipped and priced "$2.00"; heavily rubbed and soiled with scattered staining; chipping with losses to folds, front panel, and tail; 17 mm hole through author by-line on spine, numerous tape repairs to verso along folds.
