First edition, first impression, binding B without the silhouette to the upper board, together with a second impression dust jacket Octavo. 256 pages. Publisher's black Fabroleen cloth (Type A), spine stamped in silver; married second impression dust jacket designed by Pat Marriott, featuring the author's name printed in white on the spine and a fourteen-line review from the Manchester Guardian on the front flap. Slightly skewed, head of spine pushed. White endpapers; ink ownership to the front free endpaper recto. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed; lightly scattered foxing chiefly to edges, text block edges lightly toned. Dust jacket with publisher's decorative clip and price listed as 13s 6d; moderate edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine and corners with minor losses, spine sunned, creased along folds, rubbed and soiled, head of spine reinforced with cellotape on verso. Very good book and dust jacket.Gilbert A6a (1.2).
