More Information: Hollar's version of Holbein's Dance of Death first appeared in 1651 in Antwerp. The 18th century reissue used extensively reworked plates under the aegis of Douce. It is those plates, reworked yet again that are used in this edition. Pennington calls them state iv of the Hollar plates.
